He was born on a farm south of Prairie City and spent the greater part of his life in that village. He was born 17 July 1874, and was united in marriage with MISS HANNAH BRYTE of Prairie City, who survives. Also survived by sons, Orrin and Loren and a brother Lester Derenzy of Kansas City and a sister MRS. FRANK VAN VELSOR of Prairie City. Burial in the Prairie City Cemetery.

Charles married Hanna E. Bryte, daughter of William Bryte and Sarah Jane Beam, on 4 August 1904 in Galesburg, IL.1 (Hanna E. Bryte was born on 27 November 1875 in Prairie City, IL 1 and died on 25 August 1949 in Prairie City, IL 1.). The cause of her death was multilocular cystadenoma of ovaries with malignant changes.1

Charles Derenzy and Hannah Bryte, Wednesday, Aug 4, 1904 in Galesburg at the home of Rev. Bell were united in Holy bonds of Wedlock. The happy couple are both residents of Prairie City and have the best wishes of their host of friends here. Mr. Derenzy is the genial clerk that waits on customers at Mead's Groceries. He is the son of John Derenzy. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bryte and is a girl of sterling worth. We extend our congratulations. ----------------------------------------
