² HOLD LAST RITES TODAY FOR MRS. BERTHA EVELAND

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Eveland of 805 North Seventh, wife of Robert Eveland, were conducted in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home at 2 p.m. this afternoon. The service was in charge of Rev. David Fields, pastor of Centenary Methodist Church. Interment was in Bethany Cemetery on Highway 54 west of Louisiana. Mrs. Eveland died in the Pike County Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Sunday. She had been a patient there for four weeks. She was born near Pleasant Hill, Ill., on April 11, 1898 a daughter of Jake and Lula Robinson Elliott. Surviving relatives are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Jene Blacketer of Rockport; three grandchildren, Robert, Dona, and Marva Blacketer of Rockport; two sisters Mrs. Floyd Craft of Louisiana and Mrs. Artie Eckhart, Clarksville; and by a brother, Lester Elliott of Louisiana.

Bertha married William Robert Eveland, son of James Eveland and Dora McCoy, about 1925. (William Robert Eveland was born on 7 May 1882 in Silex, MO, died in December 1960 in Mount Vernon, IL and was buried on 11 December 1960.)
