   Another name for Parker was Parker Howe Homes.

  General Notes:

Some researchers will show his surname spelled as Homes instead of Holmes but that appears to be a spelling convention that was intentionally or accidentally adopted by his surviving family members after his death in 1892. All census documents and marriage documents created while he was living show his surname spelled as Holmes. His gravestone was erected following his death and the surname was spelled as Homes. Thirty years later when his 2nd wife died, her gravestone used the Homes spelling. When his sons Edward and Charles from his 2nd wife died in 1953 and 1895 respectively, their gravestones used the Homes spelling.

Parker Hill spelled his surname Homes, as did his father, Edward Parker Homes. Edward Parker Homes' father, Parker Howe Holmes took out the "L" from Holmes because his name was misspelled on a deed that was given him from his dad, Phineas (Phinehas) who also removed the "L" from his surname.
