bullet  General Notes:

"Frank Corydon, son of Daniel Francis and Ellen Louise (BATES) FAST, was born in Alliance, Ohio, April 10, 1861. At the age of fourteen years he was sent to Europe with a tutor for study. He remained abroad several years, spending much time in Paris, Venice, and Berlin. While spending much time in Zweibrucken, Germany, the ancestral home of his great-great-grandfather, Nicklaus FAUST, he adopted for himself and family the original spelling of the family name as used by Nicklaus FAUST when he signed his name to the Oath of Fidelity and Abjuration in Philadelphia upon his landing in America. While studying in Europe Frank Corydon FAUST received training in civil engineering, which profession he subsequently practiced with notable success. On August 27, 1883, at Sturgis, Michigan, he was married to Frances Elma PRICE, who was born in Canal Dover, Ohio, March 9, 1959. He was a student all his life. Being able to speak several languages, he taught his children also to be linguists. He was successful, as might be suspected, in handling men of various nationalities in his surveying and construction camps. He was one of the engineers employed in the building of the Missouri Pacific Railroad from Little Rock, Arkansas to St. Louis. He also directed much preliminary and construction work on the Frisco and M.K. and T. Railroad. During the First World War he served in a clerical capacity (civilian) in the Quartermasters' Division, Supply Department, at Camp Pike, Little Rock, Arkansas. During his latter years and at the time of his death, he was employed by the United States Government as an engineer in flood control work with headquarters at Memphis, Tennessee. H was a natural leader of men, much loved by those who knew him, with a sense of humor that made dull and trying experiences merry ones. He died April 11, 1931, in Memphis.".
