It is difficult to know for certain if his name was Henry Clyde or Clyde Henry. The very early census records for him support the first name of Henry but more current records when he was an adult show a preference for the name Clyde. His marriage record shows the name of Clyde as does his WW I Draft Registration form.

In addition, at least one census record and his WW I Draft Registration form show a birth year of 1874 whereas all other census records would support a birth year of 1875. His gravestone shows a birth year of 1875.

Both Clyde and Evangeline were born in Iowa. Sometime between 1895 and 1900, Clyde, who was about 20 years old and still single, traveled to Oklahoma to live with his uncle Joel Crees and his family. Within 5 years Clyde returned back to Iowa and married Evangeline in March 1906 in Muscatine County. They both then traveled back to Oklahoma where they made their home and their 3 children were born. Clyde and Evangeline continued to live out their lives in Oklahoma and both are buried in Lamont, Grant County, Oklahoma.
