⁷ Frieda Wehmeyer, 82, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the Unity Hospital in Muscatine.

Services will be at 10 AM Saturday at the George. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Wade Duroe of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Conesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Wehmeyer, Mike Wehmeyer, Robert Wehmeyer, John Murray, Doug Bunn, Brian Dusenberry, and D. J. Bunn Jr. A luncheon will be held at the Hillcrest Baptist Church following the service.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Friday at the George. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in memory of Frieda Wehmeyer.

Mrs. Wehmeyer was born April 7, 1918, in Conesville, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Stratton. She married Henry Otis Wehmeyer on June 20, 1936.

She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and flower gardening. She was an excellent cook.

Survivors include her spouse, Henry Wehmeyer of Muscatine; three sons, Richard Wehmeyer and his wife, Carolee, of Muscatine, James Wehmeyer and his wife, Jeanne, of Davenport and Jeff Wehmeyer and his wife, Laura, of Muscatine; a daughter, Delores Bergen of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Fred Stratton and his wife, Leota, of Sacramento, California and Harold Stratton of Davenport; a sister, Betty Stinson of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Reta in 1963; a grandson, Rick Wehmeyer; three sisters, Romell, Vera and Mildred; and two brothers, Raymond and Gerald "Boots".

Henry and Frieda share one gravestone which is a large vertical face monument of gray granite. In the middle of the front face is the name WEHMEYER in large block letters. In the lower left it reads "Henry O., Jan. 11, 1915 - Aug 8, 2003" while in the lower right it reads "Frieda W., Apr. 7, 1918 - May 31, 2000". Along the bottom edge it reads "Parents of Richard, Delores, James, Reta, Jeff".
