Eugene Kanalz, 85, of 2506 Vaughan Ave., died Friday at Jackson General Hospital at Ripley. He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Julius and Bessie Vaughan Kanalz. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and was in the refrigeration business with his father. In later years he ran concessions at carnivals and fairs. He is survived by two sons, David J. Kanalz and Paul E. Kanalz, both of Parkersburg; a daughter, Virginia C. Kanalz of Parkersburg; one brother, Carl H. Kanalz of Birmingham, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Kanalz, in 1983; an infant sister. Services will be Monday, 2:30 PM, at Vaughan Funeral Home with the Rev. John Keck and the Rev. William Phipps officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home."
