Some researchers may show an additional son, George Shafer, born about 1829, who eventually married Mary Magdalena Darner. But his true parentage seems to be disputed. Some researchers show this George Shafer to be a son of John Shafer and Elizabeth Linebaugh instead. The problem is because of the limited amount of genealogical records coming out of Maryland and the fact that there were multiple George Shafers all born in Maryland about 1829.
