A BIOGRAPHY OF DANIEL BURLINGAME, by Larry Overmire (3G Grandson), Aug. 2008:
The tenth of twelve children of Josiah Burlingame and Martha Brewster (reportedly a descendant of the Mayflower's William and Mary Brewster), Daniel was born July 9, 1804, in New Berlin, Chenango County, New York.
He was a farmer who was living in Steuben County, Indiana, by the time of the 1850 census. He may have had three different wives: Elizabeth Wise, Lucy Briscoe, and Anna Fast, but details are sketchy for the first two. He married Jacob Fast's sister Anna Fast sometime before 1870 when they were living in Union, DeKalb County, Indiana. Daniel's daughter Melissa married Jacob Fast in 1865 in Ashland County, Ohio. Anna must have died between 1870 and 1880, because Daniel appears as a widower in the 1880 census when he was living with his son Alonzo.
Daniel died on April 17, 1894, in Ashland County at the age of 89 and is buried in Polk Cemetery.

Marriage Notes:
Daniel Burlingame was Anna's second husband. Some researchers show that they were married "after 1839" but that date is grossly in error. The 1850 census shows Anna still living with her 1st husband, Robert Reed. She had a daughter, Adaline Reed, born in 1854 in Indiana. The marriage record from Steuben County, Indiana shows that they married on 26 Jan 1862. The ceremony was performed by her uncle, Christian Fast.
