Clinton W. Taylor Dies Near Cisne

Clinton W. Taylor, well-known Indian Prairie township farmer, passed away at his home near Cisne Friday afternoon following an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted at the Wesley Chapel church Sunday morning by Rev. W. W. Bratton. Burial was in the Wesley Chapel cemetery.

Clinton Washington, son of Griffith D. and Elisabeth Taylor, was born in Orchard township, May 11, 1872. His entire life has been spent in the vicinity of his birth. He has engaged in farming and stock raising for many years on his farm in Indian Prairie township. He was a devout Christian, having been a member of the Pentecostal church for many years.

He was united in marriage with Ollie May Withrow, February 4, 1906. One son was born to this union. The companion passed away, July 13, 1908. He was again united in marriage with Nancy Idella Craig Scott, December 30, 1908. To this union four daughters were born.

He was aged sixty-eight years, five months, and twenty-seven days.

He is survived by his companion, one son, Marion, of Algonquin; four daughters, Florence McGrew, of Clay City, Gladys McGrew of Flora, and Virideen and Zelma at home; two step-sons, Leslie Scott, of Streator, and Arthur Scott of Maroa, one step-daughter, Ester Williams of Cisne; one brother, George of Johnsonville, three sisters, Marietta Bowden of Johnsonville, Amy Bratton, of Moscow, Idaho; and Amanda French of Bluford; eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Clinton married Olive M. Withrow, daughter of Richardson Withrow and Marilda Bilda McClintock, on 4 February 1906. (Olive M. Withrow was born in 1885 in Illinois,⁵ died on 13 July 1908 ⁵ and was buried after 13 July 1908 in Hickory Hill, IL ⁵.)

Clinton next married Nancy Idella Craig, daughter of George Bell Craig and Mary Ann Barnard, on 30 December 1908.¹ (Nancy Idella Craig was born on 18 November 1878 in Illinois,^{1 6} died on 28 July 1951 ⁶ and was buried after 28 July 1951 in Johnsonville, IL ⁶.)
