Collie Edward Brooks ¹

Collie E. (John) Brooks, 90, of Walker, WV, died Feb. 24, 2006, at Ohio Valley Health Care.

He was born Oct. 19, 1915 in Harrison, the son of the late Leroy and Anna Barker Brooks. He retired from Penn Metal and attended Freeport Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hardbarger Brooks; three daughters, Wanda P. Roberts of Elizabeth, Rozetta M. Channel of Parkersburg and Anna G. Waggoner of Walker; son, Edward Lee Brooks of Newark; several brothers and sisters, Deloris Brown, Ruby Martin, Lawrence Brooks, Raymond Brooks, Lula Bell Townsend and Addison Brooks; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and also by several foster children, whom he and his wife helped raise from infants until becoming teenagers.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Services will be 10 AM Monday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Dean Ash officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
