The spelling of her maiden surname is uncertain. Various documents all varied to a slight degree but Van Orman and Van Arnam seem to be the most prevalent spelling. Most of the variation in the spelling can be attributed to poor handwriting on the documents or a lack of knowledge in proper spelling on the part of the clerk writing the document.
Her death certificate gave her father's name as Charles Van Amon (or Aman) but the informant was her son-in-law, Robert L. Carr, who married her daughter, Eunice.
