Sarah married Frederick Gonder, son of Peter Gonder and Barbara Queer, about 1854. (Frederick Gonder was born on 26 October 1830 in Mont Alto, PA,³ died on 7 January 1902 ³ and was buried after 7 January 1902 in Mont Alto, PA ³.)

  Marriage Notes:

The Frederick Gonder who was born in 1830 and died in 1902 was married only two times and each of his wife's names was Sarah. This can be best proven by his gravestone marker. Frederick and both of his wives share a common gravestone marker. One one side it says " Sarah J. Lightfoot, wife of Frederick Gonder, 1835-1855". Immediately under that it says "Elizabeth J. 1855-1855".

This would suggest that Frederick and Sarah were married perhaps about 1854. A daughter was born in 1855 but both she and the mother died in the same year, perhaps during childbirth or because of other complications.

On another side of the same gravestone, it says "Frederick Gonder, 1830-1902; his wife Sarah Cole, 1837-1898".

This suggests that Frederick was remarried to Sarah Cole about 1856. There are at least 8 other children born to Frederick and Sarah Cole with their birth dates ranging from 1857 to 1874.

There was a different Frederick Gonder in Pennsylvania around the same time who was married to an Elizabeth Friedline. They had multiple children with birth dates from the 1810s through the 1850s. They resided mostly in Somerset County, Pennsylvania area. Their marriage and the birth dates of their children would sometimes conflict with the marriages and birth dates of the children born to Frederick Gonder and Sarah Lightfoot and Sarah Cole. Some researchers tend to mix these two Fredericks together resulting in many conflicting birth dates of all the children.
