NOTE - The parentage of the grandson Clyde Mathias is not known. All of the living children were still single. There were two daughters that had died prior to the 1900 census, Cora Alice Mathias and Virginia Mathias. Virginia had died 8 years earlier so the 3 year grandson could not have been hers. The older daughter, Cora Alice Mathias, had died in 1900 so it is possible that should could have been the mother. There was another daughter, Margaret May Mathias, who was born in 1881 thus would have been about 19 years old at the time of the 1900 census. She was not listed with the family and her location is not known. She also could have been the mother of Clyde Mathias.
