Although his obituary states that he was born to Carson and Elaine Bell, other information from old Family Tree Maker files indicate that Marshall Ward was adopted as an infant. His adoption would also seem to be supported by his birth date not being anywhere close to the other two children on Carson and Elain Bell both of whom would have been in the 50s at the time of Marshall's birth.

Marshall Ward Markley, 41, a resident of Huttonsville, passed from this life Friday, April 26, 2024, at home. He had been in his usual health and death was attributed to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Marshall was born Monday, January 24, 1983, in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late Carson Ward Markley and Elaine Roberta Bell Markley.
On December 4, 2021, in Hartwick, NY, he married the former Julie Marie Field who survives.
Also left to cherish his memory is his only child, Abigail Elaine "Abbie" Markley, one brother, Robert Markley and wife, Elizabeth, one sister, Julie Markley-Kalar and husband, Kevin, two nephews, Charles Markley and John Markley, one niece, Katherine Markley, several aunts and uncles, and many friends.
Marshall was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 2001 where he had played football and was in the band. While in high school, he was active in the Boy Scouts and had attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
After high school, he attended Fairmont State College where he received his bachelor's degree in elementary education, and he then went on to obtain his master's degree from West Virginia University.
He had worked as supervising social worker with CPS for the Department of Health and Human Resources before becoming the superintendent over Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. He had just recently accepted a new position as the superintendent of Blackwater Falls State Park.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing guitar, and running, having run in several marathons. He loved his family and spending time with Abbie. He had attended Otterbein United Methodist Church in Elkins and later attended Valley Independent Baptist Church in Huttonsville
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Friday, May 3, 2024, from 1 pm until 3 pm, the funeral hour. Rev. Mike Leedom and Pastor Frank Stanley will co-officiate and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
